Originally from Aberdeenshire, I graduated from Robert Gordon University in 2007 with a BSC (Hons) in Construction and Design Management and was an Assistant Site Manager for Morrisons Construction for several years. Whilst I was studying, I worked with High Country Forestry and Fencing where I learned the art of thatching – rare skills that not many people have in Scotland. I have aspirations to one day bring this skill into the business - perhaps with some thatched summer houses.
Personally, I have been involved in some fantastic projects and house renovations including my family home in Edzell which was a total steading conversion from ruins to a stunning stone cottage which includes 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 public rooms with open plan kitchen living space for our family gatherings.
In setting up my own business, I am living the dream - to do something that I am so passionate in beautiful East Lothian. I am a grafter so put everything into a job but the beauty of working for myself is finally I can make sure I have some work life balance to spend time with my family.
